PBS Films Children's Show Pilot in Downtown Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- Elm Street in downtown Rye is doubling as a film set on Thursday as production companies from PBS film a scene for a new children's program entitled "Odd Squad.”

Production crews from Inner Dog Productions and 400th Town Productions in New York City set up shop across the street from Starbucks at approximately 7 a.m. to shoot a scene inside of Longford's Own Made Ice Cream.

According to Line Producer Ann Taylor, the plot centers on two kid investigators named Olive and Otto who investigate math related problems.

"It's an entertaining and funny fast-paced drama that's also educational," Taylor said.

Taylor added that the story is set in "small town anywhere America," and that the producers wanted a place that had small town charm.

Taylor would not speculate on when the pilot, which is called "Zero Effect," will air on PBS's website.
