Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Westchester Deli Assault, DA Says

A man has been indicted on attempted murder charges dating back to a Christmas stabbing in a Northern Westchester deli last year.

Antonio Alvarez - who has no known address - has been indicted on charges in connection to attempted murder and assault in Peekskill on Christmas Day, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced this week.

According to the indictment, at approximately 10 p.m. on Dec. 25 last year, Alvarez was in a South Street deli in Peekskill when he allegedly attacked another man. It is alleged that Alvarez stabbed his victim in the neck with a knife during the assault. Alvarez’s victim was rushed to a hospital and had to undergo emergency surgery.


Alvarez, 48, has been charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of assault, all felonies. He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Alvarez remains remanded and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, March 27 to respond to the charges.
