Register for After-School Programs at Rye YMCA

RYE, N.Y. - The Rye YMCA's after-school programs "Kindertime" and "After School Adventures" are now open for registration for the 2012-13 school year. According to a release sent by the YMCA, the focus of the programs is on "nurturing the potential of each child through a variety of recreational and enrichment activities."

Kindertime is an afternoon program geared towards children in the Rye City School District. The enrichment cirriculum includes swim instruction once a week, sports in the gymnasium twice a week, and, for the second half of the school year, individualized computer lessons from a specialist.

"It is great to watch the children improve their skills and increase in confidence as the year progresses,” said Yanique Powell, Rye Y School Age Child Care Director.

Kindertime also includes transportation from Midland, Milton, and Osborn schools.

The "After School Adventure" program is for children grades K-6 and offers a variety of physical activites including swimming and Zumba. In the second half of the school year the children get to choose elective classes like LEGO creation.

The program, which runs from 3:00 to 6:30 pm, includes transportation for students attending Rye City elementary schools as well as Resurrection, Harrison Avenue, Parsons, Daniel Warren and F.E. Bellows. Registration is open to other neighboring schools if parents are able to provide transportation. After School Adventures follows the Rye City school district’s calendar and offers a fun club during school holidays for an additional fee.
