Early-Morning Car Fire Under Investigation In Rye

Authorities in Westchester County are investigating an early-morning car fire that left a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on a residential street. 

The blaze destroyed a 2014 Dodge Durango in Rye, police said.

The blaze was reported around 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, on Lavender Lane in Rye, according to the City of Rye Police Department. 

Responding officers and firefighters arrived to find a 2014 Dodge Durango fully on fire.

Rye Fire Department crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly. The SUV was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. The vehicle has since been towed to a secure police impound lot for further analysis.
