Hastings Boys Lacrosse Falls to Irvington

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Hastings boys lacrosse team played well in the first half Wednesday before stalling in the second half of a 10-6 loss to rival visiting Irvington.

“I think we lost focus and didn’t play well on defense in the second half,” Hastings’ Luke Pearson said. “We have to be aggressive through the whole game and we’re not doing that right now. We have Dobbs Ferry coming up next and need to be ready to play.”

Freshman Jamie Ceballos scored the hat trick (three goals) for Hastings and Pearson added a goal and three assists for the Yellow Jackets, who struggled to get out of their defensive zone in the second half. Sam Provet and Quentin Bailey each scored a goal for Hastings.

Hastings Coach Drew Wendol was disappointed in the second half letdown.

“We can’t lose focus, especially on the defense end,” Wendol said. “I know we can be much better if we think about what we’re doing out there and keep being aggressive. We’re not a high-scoring team so defense and ball control are key for us. (Today) we just let the game get away.”
