Dobbs Ferry Downs Stissing Mountain 40-8

PINE PLAINS, N.Y. – Dobbs Ferry's varsity football team went upstate for a visit to Stissing Mountain High School and returned home with a convincing 40-8 victory and a 5-1 season record.

Fullback Tim Soave scored three touchdowns, including the first two of the game, quarterback Spencer Avalos scored once and running backs, Brian Gardner and John Yozzo-Scaperrotta each scored for the Eagles, who won their fifth straight.

Dobbs Ferry (5-1) lost to Bronxville on opening day and has not faced a tough test since,  establishing itself for the upcoming Class C playoffs.

Gardner gained a team-high 145 yards on 12 carries and Yozzo-Scaperrotta gained 90 on nine carries as the Eagles used all their backs.

The Eagles will host Rye Neck next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the regular-season finale on homecoming day.
