ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Springfield College Senior Derrick Longo was right where he wanted to be, wrestling for the 165-pound title in the Doug Parker Wrestling Invitational at Springfield College Saturday.
Unfortunately, the second-seeded Ardsley graduate did not quite achieve the result he was looking for, falling to top-seeded Joey Favia of Stevens Institute, 4-1.
Longo began with a 13-2 major decision over Robert Sotelo of Rhode Island College. In the second round, Longo registered a 21-5 technical fall over Zach Bantle from Western New England.
Longo advanced to the semifinals with a hard-fought 2-1 win over James Matlack of Plymouth State. Longo decisioned Ryan Madson of the Massachusetts Institute of Technolgy, 7-5, in a semifinal.
