DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Among the fundraisers, business decisions and discussions with school administrators the Dobbs Ferry PTSA still values what the students have to say about their school.
We have a high school advisory committee this year thats new that will be meeting as a group and coming up with their own goals for the year and what the high school students want like seminars, said Dobbs Ferry PTSA president Lisa Ferrara.
Along with the feedback the PTSA hopes to hear from this committee, there are also plans underway for programs that take the sole focus off of the classroom.
Were looking at doing some real enrichment at the high school that will help kids transition more easily to post high school life whether thats college or out in the work force, Ferrara said.
With Facebook and Twitter taking up more and more of peoples time, the PTSA thinks its something worth teaching kids more about.
Were also going to look into doing some programming around social media, Ferrara said. From a parents perspective what kids are doing online and also for the kids to really understand and realize what their online presence should be.
