HASTINGS, N.Y. -- Two Hastings High School students were recently honored by a National Hispanic Program.
Students David Osband and Matthew Erickson received notification that they have been recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program and were also honored at the Sept. 25 Hastings School Board of Education meeting along with five other students who were recognized as National Merit and National Achievement Semi-Finalists, according to a news release from the school district.
Osband was named a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar and Erickson was designated a National Hispanic Recognition Program Honorable Mention, according to the release.
The NHRP :was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students" and this year "the NHRP is recognizing about 5,300 students from a pool of over 259,000 who took the 2012 PSAT/NMSQT/PAA qualifying exam," according to the release.
