Hastings High School Photographers Selected For NYC Show

HASTINGS, N.Y. -- Three Hastings High School students will display work in a prestigious award show by the Professional Women Photographers.

Jocelyn Fine, Maya Jason, and Emily Rogers each submitted three photographs reflecting the theme of "Self-Portraits." The three students had been working on a unit that involved intensive Photoshop work, according to instructor Martin Merchant. 

The Professional Women Photographers is a non-profit organization founded in 1975 and based in New York City with more than 200 members. The exhibit, Professional Women Photographers 2014 Student Photo Exhibition opens on March 15 at the Calumet Gallery, 22 W. 22nd St., Second Floor, in New York City.

The opening reception is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, March 15, and the public is encouraged to attend and join educators, working professionals, parents and the students in viewing the gallery of works by students. The exhibit will close on March 21. The opening reception will also feature guest speaker Debra L. Rothenberg, an award-winning photographer.
