DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. The secret talents of local students will be on full display in the Dobbs Ferrys Got Talent show at the high school on Friday night.
We have sixth-graders all the way up to 12-graders performing in the show, so its a great range of ages and I think itll be a good turnout, said Susie Powers, a SPRING board member.
All proceeds of the talent show will go to the not-for-profit SPRING Community Partners organization.
It goes to our program and to make sure the kids in our community have all the resources they need to succeed in school and beyond, she said.
While SPRING is primarily geared towards helping elementary-aged students, Powers said the talent show would be a great way to branch out to older students.
This is our first official fundraiser and its actually been great because we are such a community organization and were trying to raise awareness, she said.
The talent show itself has been primarily created and produced by the students, which Powers said has been the best part of the fundraiser thus far. There has also been help from the Dobbs Ferry Youth Council and the librarys teen advisory group.
The kids are basically running the show, she said. I have kids doing lighting and sound. The kids did all the auditions themselves. Theyre doing the lineup, theyre doing the staging.
Powers also said she was working on getting a couple of surprise teacher performances together to give the show a little extra excitement.
The kids love when their teachers perform, she added. We have some teachers who are going to be doing some emceeing. Im still trying to wrangle some up on stage.
Some acts to keep an eye out for include a singing performance by the three Knezevic sisters while one even plays the ukulele. There will also be two Indian dance numbers, with one as a tribute to Bollywood.
Although it may be the organizations first fundraiser, Powers said the process of putting the show together has given her high hopes for the show on Friday.
I think were really going to pull in a big range of the community and thats exciting to me, she said. I really love that there were so many hands involved in putting this together.
The show will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Dobbs Ferry High School/Middle School auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults.
