Ardsley, Hastings, Irvington High Schools Rank Among New York State's Best

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Hastings, Edgemont, Irvington and Ardsley high schools have been ranked among the best in New York State by U.S. News & World Report in rankings released Tuesday morning.

Hastings was the third-highest ranked high school in all of Westchester County coming in at No. 24 in the state behind only Blind Brook and Rye. 

Hastings' student population of 519 exceeded the state average in all of the surveys major metrics, which included: College readiness, mathematics proficiency and English proficiency. The school also boasts an Advanced Placement participiation rate of 76 percent. 

Edgemont was ranked 29th in the state, good for seventh-best in Westchester County.

Edgemont's student population of 920 exceeded the state average in all of the surveys major metrics, which included: College readiness, mathematics proficiency and English proficiency. The school also boasts an Advanced Placement participation rate of 78 percent. 

Irvington drew the No. 32 ranking, exceeding the state average in all major metrics.

Ardsley was ranked 43rd in the state and also exceeded the state average in all major metrics, but was a bit lower on the college readiness index with a score of 59.1. 

Several other high schools in Westchester County were ranked in the top 50 in the state, including:

  • Blind Brook (No. 9)
  • Rye (No. 11)
  • Yonkers Middle
  • Horace Greeley (No. 25)
  • Byram Hills (No. 27)
  • Briarcliff (No. 31)
  • Irvington (No. 32)
  • John Jay (No. 35)
  • Pleasantville (No. 36)
  • Rye Neck (No. 39)
  • Fox Lane (No. 46)
  • North Salem (No. 49)

The top ranked high school in New York was The High School of American Studies in the Bronx.
