Tractor-Trailer Carrying Motorcycle Parts Crashes Into Parkway Overpass In Westchester

A tractor-trailer slammed into an overpass on the Bronx River Parkway, shearing off the top of the vehicle and backing up traffic in Westchester.

The crash took place around 6:12 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, when the tractor-trailer traveling southbound struck an overpass on the Bronx River Parkway near the Cross County Parkway between Yonkers and Mount Vernon, said Westchester County Police Spokesman Kieran O'Leary.

The tractor-trailer was carrying Honda motorcycle parts, he said.

The center and right lanes had to be closed. Traffic was impacted in the area since only the left lane was open.

The cargo had to be off-loaded the tractor and trailer vehicle towed.

The entire road was reopened at about 10:45 a.m., he added.

The driver was issued summonses for traveling on a restricted roadway, failure to obey a traffic control device (the signs that say No Trucks or Passenger Cars Only) and having an over-height vehicle.

No one was injured.
