Detectives are investigating the three robberies that took place in the stretch of less than a half-hour on Sunday, March 7 within New Rochelle.

New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa said that said officers were dispatched to the area of 111 North Avenue, where there was a report of an armed robbery, around 9 p.m. Sunday.

It is alleged that two men were walking in the area when they were approached by three African American suspects.

Costa said that one of the suspects struck one of the men in the back of the head with an unknown object while a second brandished a knife. The third suspect then went through the backpack, stealing Adidas flip-flops, the backpack itself, a wallet, and $50 in cash.

The suspects then allegedly began punching the second victim, stealing his hat, backpack, $20, and his cellphone.

Costa said that both victims sustained facial abrasions and lacerations, and were treated at New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital.

One of the suspects was described as being approximately 6-feet tall, wearing a red sweater with black sleeves, black pants with white stripes, and Jordan sneakers. The other two were wearing all-dark clothing.

Minutes later, at 9:02 p.m, Costa said that officers responded to the area of Church Street, where there was a second reported robbery.

It is alleged that a man was standing on the sidewalk outside an apartment building when he was approached by three African American men who demanded money from him.

Costa said that when the victim refused, he was punched in the face and his wallet was taken with $35 in cash inside. The man was treated at New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital, and the suspects were described similarly to that of the first robbery.

Less than a half-hour later, at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the rear lot of Dragon Garden on North Avenue, where there was a third robbery reported.

According to Costa, the investigation into the third robbery found that a man was approached by two African-American men who pushed him to the ground and stole his iPhone, which was found discarded and damaged nearby. The suspects in the third robbery were described as wearing all dark clothing.

Costa said that the New Rochelle Police Department is conducting a follow-up investigation. Anyone with information has been asked to contact investigating detectives by calling (914) 654-2300.
