Suspect In SUV Who Grabbed Woman's Purse At Large After Robbery On Long Island

A suspect who allegedly stole a woman’s purse on Long Island is at large, police said.

Detectives from the Nassau County Police Department’s First Squad are attempting to locate the man who's accused of robbing a 71-year-old woman on Waverly place in Uniondale.

According to police, at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, the woman was walking eastbound on Waverly Place when she was approached by an unknown African American. 

The man allegedly grabbed her purse after a brief struggle and entered a white older-model SUV, which sped off northbound on Maple Avenue.

The woman was not injured in the struggle.

Police said the suspect is described as a 6-foot African American man with a thin build. 

At the time of the incident, he was wearing black sweatpants and a black hooded sweatshirt. No other information was released by investigators.
