String Of Thefts Reported At Dobbs Ferry NYSC

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – A rash of four crimes where credit cards were stolen from New York Sports Club in Dobbs Ferry have occurred in the past month. All four cases are under investigation and it hasn’t yet been determined if the incidents are connected, said Sgt. Sean White.

The following incidents occurred at NYSC in the past month:

  • A 33-year-old Bronx resident reported a larceny took place between nonn and 1 p.m. Aug. 9. The Bronx man told police he put his gym bag down in the locker room and left it unattended for a short time while disposing of a towel. When he returned, two credit cards were missing from his wallet. He was later notified by his credit card company that an unknown individual had tried to purchase $1,500 worth of merchandise from an Apple Store on 34th Street in Manhattan.
  • A 42-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident reported a case of identity theft Aug. 10 after an unknown person charged $1,120.20 on his MasterCard at an Apple Store in Manhattan and charged the same amount on his American Express card at the same store.
  • A 32-year-old Hastings resident reported an instance of larceny and unlawful possession of personal identification to police Aug. 13. The man to police that his iPhone, Chase debit card, wallet and Social Security card were taken July 26 between 5:45 and 7:30 a.m. while he played basketball. The man told police he didn’t realize the items were missing until he got home. His bank later notified him that, on July 31, two fraudulent checks, for $3,954.91 and $1,644.91, were deposited into his bank account. Another check for $3,944.91 was deposited Aug. 1, as well as one for $2,944.91 Aug. 2, and one for $3,944.91 Aug. 3.
  • A 73-year-old Yonkers resident reported a larceny that occurred Aug. 14 between 4 and 5 p.m. The man placed his possessions in a locker with a combination lock. When he returned to the locker room, the lock was open and his wallet, four debit cards and his license were missing.
