HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Mildred Mary Holub, 94, a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, died Friday, Sept. 11 at Cabrini of Westchester.
Born in New York City to Frank and Rose Cudlin, she and her late husband, Russell Martin, married just prior to his deployment to the Pacific with the U.S. Navy during the WWII. Upon his return, she and Russell raised their two children in their family home in the village of Hastings-on-Hudson.
She became the backbone of her family after the untimely death of her husband in November of 1970, and returned to school and to nursing.
She is predeceased by a brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Rose Novak of Fairfield, Connecticut; her son, Russell Francis Holub (Kimberley Ann) of Chappaqua, New York; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
All are welcomed to a visitation and celebration Friday, Sept. 18 from 5-8 p.m. at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry, New York. A memorial service also will be celebrated in her remembrance Saturday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Cabrini of Westchester, Dobbs Ferry.
