George Kepcher Sr., 85, Longtime Hastings Resident

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – George Kepcher Sr., a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, died Thursday, July 31, in Anderson, S.C. He was 85.

The son of John and Anna Basher Kepcher, he was born July 27, 1927, in Grandville, N.Y. He was employed as a sheet metal worker by General Motors for 46 years. A Navy veteran, Kepcher was a member of the Hastings Southside Club and a longtime parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Church in Yonkers.

Kepcher was predeceased by his wife, Viola Melella Kepcher. He is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Victor) Quintanilla of Anderson, S.C., and Deborah (Michael) Russomano of Ambler, Pa.; a son, George Kepcher Jr., of Ridgefield, Conn.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hastings Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Church in Hastings-on-Hudson. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Greenburgh.
