Rivertowns Square Review Process Continuing Along

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Having recently been described by Dobbs Ferry Mayor Hartley Connett as going in a much different direction than originally planned, Rivertowns Square will be discussed by the board of trustees on Tuesday night with an update on the status of the project and what it means going forward.

“The planner is going to discuss the next steps in the” State Environmental Quality Review Act process, said Dobbs Ferry Village Administrator Marcus Serrano.  “Just the process itself” will be discussed “and when future meetings will be held on it.”

The village is now just waiting on the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) from the project’s developers so the board of trustees can review the plan for Rivertowns Square further and ultimately open it up to public hearings.

The FEIS should be submitted probably between Monday and Tuesday, Serrano said.  “It’s for the village board to review it and after it has reviewed the FEIS and they determine its completeness, then it will become a public document.”

The Dobbs Board of Trustees will be meeting Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in village hall and Connett encouraged local residents to attend the meeting.

“In anticipation the preliminary FEIS will soon be formally submitted by the developer back to the village, it is important to make sure everyone is aware of the next steps in the SEQRA review process, how it will be conducted, and timing,” said Connett in a message to residents.  “It will also include discussion of scheduling for workshops and a public hearing.”

Rivertowns Square was last discussed by the board of trustees back in March after the project developers announced the addition of Sundance Cinemas to the development. Rivertowns Square will consist of the movie theater, a 20,000 square foot gourmet supermarket, 15,000 square feet of restaurants, 35,000-40,000 square feet of retail shopping space, a 120 room branded hotel and a multistory residential building with 226 units and a parking garage.  Developers did say back in March that they were discussing the potential of dropping the residential building down to 202 units, which would reduce it from four stories to three.

Connett reiterated to residents that no decisions have been made by the board yet and no official decisions will be made at Tuesday’s meeting.

“The review process is simply continuing into the next phase and the main importance is to keep everyone fully informed and involved,” Connett said in the message.
