DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Several roads in Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley and Hastings remained closed Tuesday afternoon as crews and villages worked to clean up after Hurricane Sandy.
Route 9 was blocked because of downed trees and wires in both Dobbs Ferry and Hastings. Ardsley officials said Sprain Road between Ardsley Road and Jackson Avenue was closed at Boulder Ridge.
Power outages affected traffic lights in all three villages. Dobbs Ferry police advised residents to stay inside on Tuesday. Ardsley officials also warned residents to stay inside.
“The immediate focus is on clearing the roads, freeing up downed wires and restoring power,” Ardsley said in a storm notice Tuesday afternoon, adding “There is a great deal to do, so please be patient.”
Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry and Hastings municipal offices were closed Tuesday, as were libraries.
An emergency shelter has been operating at Veteran Park on Heatherdell Road in Ardsley.
