DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. Dobbs Ferry is under a state of Emergency as of 8 p.m. Saturday due to the impending Hurricane Irene, Mayor Hartley S. Connett said.
The State of Emergency will remain in effect until it is rescinded by a subsequent order.
The village's public safety and emergency departments have been in constant contact with the County and neighboring villages and this order is in coordination with those efforts," the statement read. "The potential dangers of the hurricane - during the storm and aftermath - threatens the public safety, and as such the village will use all necessary tools to effectively manage the situation, and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Connett stressed that people stay off the roads and remain inside once the storm hits.
