DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. As the construction at the intersection of Broadway and Livingston continues to make progress and near completion, there are some complaints about the project.
A base for a sign was recently placed in the area of the small historical park at the intersection, which village historian Richard Borkow feels intrudes on the landmark. Those stone markers do honor and give respect to the American soldiers that were stationed here, he said.
Borkow said the small historical park is a village treasure and that its designed to give respect to Dobbs Ferry history. Any utility pole or walk, dont walk sign will destroy the effect of the park, Borkow said. I urge the engineers to think creatively and find a location on the east [side of the street for the pole].
Village administrator Marcus Serrano said the village was aware of the issue and is working to help move the sign if possible. It was a state designed plan, Serrano said. We immediately contacted the state to see if we could alleviate the encroachment on the park.
Serrano said that officials told the village they would be willing to meet and discuss the placement of the pole in hopes of putting it elsewhere. We got to work with the state to try and move that pole, Serrano said.
