HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- With the legendary red suit on a hanger in his office, Hastings Lt. David Dosin is prepared to continue the Breakfast with Santa tradition on Saturday morning. The breakfast is run by the Police Benevolent Association and is something the local officers have been doing for years.
When we first started this, we used to do this up in the court room in the early nineties and its just gotten so popular, Dosin said.
Children will be able to meet Santa Claus down at the Harvest on Hudson restaurant on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Local kids and their families will be able to take a picture with him, share their wish list and enjoy a complimentary breakfast. Santa Claus will be at the breakfast from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. so dont oversleep.
Dosin said the PBA used to run the event in conjunction with the recreation department, but has a separate event instead now.
We went out on our own and now its down at Harvest, he said. Its a really nice time and a lot of people come out so its exciting.
This isnt just an event for the kids though as all residents are encouraged to come out and spend some time with their neighbors.
Its for the families, Dosin said. It gets them together and just to have some holiday cheer. Thats what its really all about.
The goal behind it all is to make people smile though, which Dosin understands first hand as he dons the red suit for the event each year.
When a child smiles say no more, as long as theyre happy, he said.
