HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Sensei Clai Henry welcomed villagers to the first class of the Westchester Kenshikai Karate & Kickboxing Dojo, which opened on Main Street in Hastings Saturday.
More than two dozen Kenshikai students joined in the first workout as curious passersby looked in to the newly-renovated storefront that will be home to classes for beginners, intermediate and advance - children and adults - five days a week (closed Tuesday and Friday).
Kenshikai Karate is a comprehensive program of physical fitness, self defense and meditation in a traditional Japanese style. Henry, a New York city attorney, is a 4th degree Black Belt (Yondon) with 20 years training and 10 years of teaching experience.
