DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Dobbs Dawg House celebrated its first anniversary on Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry on Feb. 8 by surpassing the 50,000 mark in hot dogs sold.

Jammed into the middle of Dobbs Ferry's business district, the Dawg House has become a popular eating spot for pre-teens and teens from nearby schools as well as local senior centers and businesses.

"It's been a great first year," said Jeffrey Jee, who partnered with Robert Dubilier and Mike Hamborsky to start the eatery. "We've done more than 50,000 hot dogs, and that's amazing. We have two or three shifts of school kids every day, but we get people from everywhere and every age. The summer season was also very busy in our first year."

Dubilier said the most popular frank is the Mac Attack (bacon, macaroni and cheese) and that hot dogs are still a popular food any time of year. Specialty “dawgs” include Everything Bagel Dawg (cream cheese and scallions and “everything bagel spices”) and the Trailer Park Dawg (melted cheese and crushed potato chips). And one can still get an Old School Dawg (red-onion sauce, sauerkraut and brown mustard) if you prefer the traditional taste.

"We've catered a couple of local parties and hope to do more this year," Dubilier said. "But everyone loves hot dogs and we have a lot of choices so that makes it fun for us and the customers."

The Dawg House, which is located at 25 Cedar St. and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the winter, also features a large screen television for those who like to sit and enjoy their dogs while watching a football or baseball game.
