Ardsley Pets: There’s a New Doctor In Town

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Ardsley residents will soon have a new place to bring their pets for veterinary care and it will be right in the heart of downtown.

Elise Lovisa and Joe Zuckerman, who have more than three decades of combined veterinary experience, are opening Ardsley Vets near the village green in late July. Lovisa said Ardsley Vets will be a place for the community to trust with the care of their furry family members.

“Pets are very important to many people,” Lovisa said. “There’s no way to describe the human-animal bond.”

Lovisa said she and Zuckerman have worked in the area for many years, most recently at the Village Animal Clinic, and decided to open their own practice in order to run a facility the way they thought best.

“We have our own style,” Lovisa said. “We have a positive attitude and approach and when you’re your own boss, things get done the way you want them to be done.”

Ardsley Vets will be a full-service facility offering a variety of treatments including ultrasounds, surgery, radiology, dental work, routine health care and laser therapy, Lovisa said. The facility accepts only dogs and cats as patients.

Lovisa said the main goal of the business is to keep pets happy and healthy for as long as possible while, at the same time, keeping their human companions happy and comfortable with the services. Lovisa said the business already has a strong local client base because of her and Zuckerman’s history in the Ardsley area, but they also have patients from as far away as Brooklyn.

Ardsley Vets will have a grand opening the weekend after Labor Day, when residents can tour the facility and children can participate in activities. Pets are welcome, Lovisa said.

“We have a very dedicated, well-trained staff,” Lovisa said. “We welcome the community to come see our space and feel free to come to us when they need us.”
