Day, and other local officials. cut the ribbon Monday on the new facility in Haverstraw.
He was joined by Cliff Wood, president of Rockland Community College, at the ceremony.
The center, which has a second location on the college’s campus, offers residents free job search and career development services.
Day said the center is “a collaborative endeavor that brings together employers and job seekers” and provides “a comprehensive, all-in-one approach to career exploration, job training and employment searching.”
"As a community, we can never lose sight of the fact that, for someone who is unemployed or underemployed, one is the only statistic that matters," said Day in a prepared statement. "That's why we've partnered with RCC and Rockland BOCES to establish a one-stop employment and training resource center, offering free services."
Rockland Community College was selected through an RFP process to administer Workforce Investment Opportunity Act grant funds for the center from the Labor Department, Day said.
The Youth Services component will be operated by Rockland BOCES and adult services are overseen by the newly-formed Workforce Development Board of Rockland County, he added.
The new center is located at 37 W. Broad St., 1st floor, Haverstraw.
The college is at 145 College Road, Suffern.
