RCC Honors Five Faculty, Staff Members At Commencement

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Five faculty/staff members of Rockland Community College were honored for outstanding professional achievement at Commencement 2016, receiving SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence:

Maloney-Titland, professor of performing arts, has enriched the greater Rockland County Community as well as RCC’s Performing Arts program during her 28-year tenure at the college. Department chair since 1993, full professor since 2002, she instituted an internship initiative with Penguin Repertory Theatre, and co-founded the Rockland Shakespeare Company providing free open to the community outdoor Shakespeare presentations each summer. 

Magaram, assistant professor of mathematics, has been a faculty member since 2010 and tenured professor since 2015. He was instrumental in researching and developing the successful redesign of RCC’s developmental program in mathematics, utilizing the Carnegie Foundation’s Quantway Pathway as the core program. 

Cordock’s 14-years at RCC are marked by consistent efforts beyond job parameters towards improving college operations. As data entry operator in nursing, he applies additional data analysis skills to enhance the technical, scheduling, and digital access processes throughout the STEM division. Cordock schedules, proctors and administers all nursing entrance and achievement exams for some 2,000 students.

Conklin, registrar, a member of the RCC class of 1976, has been with RCC since 1978, and in the Registrar’s office since 1992. She spearheaded the data clean-up of student and course files when the college converted to the Datatel student information system in 1999 and has utilized coding knowledge acquired during the conversion process to solve many data issues. Conklin is the regional vice president of the State University of New York (SUNY) Registrars Association. 

Louis-Charles, currently the evening and weekend coordinator, has held multiple positions during his 18 years with the college. He has pioneered development of surveys, databases and management systems to track college-wide trends and excels at coordinating events to better integrate evening/weekend students into the college community. He founded "The Bridge" newsletter for faculty.
