What they want is a temporary reprieve while awaiting a ruling by New York's education commissioner on an appeal to the changes, lohud.com reported.
The cuts came because more students needed busing in the past few years so the district cut back the "mandated service" to cut costs, said the newspaper.
While students are bused to private schools in New Jersey and Rockland, most private school students require the service to attend yeshivas in Spring Valley, Monsey and Suffern, lohud.com reported.
What's changed is rather than have "staggered morning and afternoon bus routes," there is only an arrival and dismissal for every private school, same as the way busing is scheduled for the 4,800 public school kids, according to the report.
Additionally when publish schools are closed busing to private schools will no longer be provided, said lohud.com.
Parents don't believe the transition has gone smoothly, one parent told the newspaper. In all, 100 parents are part of the appeal, said lohud.com.
This school district anticipated 772 kids needing busing to 105 private schools, up from three years ago when 490 kids needed busing to 83 schools, the newspaper reported.
