RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Need a mechanical tower folder? Or a used dental chair? What about a 27-year-old X-ray machine?
Those are just some of the fun and weird items that were once used at the Summit Park nursing home and are now being auctioned by Rockland County.
The county-owned nursing home was closed nearly a year ago when a prospective buyer backed out of the deal at the last minute.
"Because we were forced to close Summit Park, we have no use for this equipment," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. "We are selling it at auction to make it available to others who can use it."
The online auction for the equipment and some new items is happening at www.govdeals.com, said Rockland Purchasing Director Paul Brennan.
"Additional items are being added weekly," he said.
Some new items also are being sold, including bed linen and patient gowns. Rockland is selling the used equipment as is, and the winning bidder will be responsible for all de-installation and removal costs.
To get a look at the goods, contact the purchasing division at 845-364-3820 or at purchasing.co.rockland.ny.us. All prospective bidders are encouraged to inspect the equipment prior to bidding, Brennan said.
