SPRING VALLEY, N. Y. -- Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme says he supports a longtime clerk staying in her job even though a majority of trustees voted to eliminate the position, and says those trustees may have to take the issue to court, according to lohud.com.
Delhomme says Audrey Klein, a part-time clerk in the village's Section Eight department and a village employee for more than 30 years, was never notified that Tuesday should have been her last day. Three trustees voted May 10 to eliminate the part-time job and consolidate the work into a full-time clerk position, lohud.com reports.
Trustee Vilar Fonvil, one of the three voting to eliminate the position, says it is not up to the trustees to notify staff about personnel changes. Delhomme says trustees lacked the authority to make the decision, lohud.com reports.
