RAMAPO, N.Y. — The deputy mayor soon takes the reigns now that Mayor Jeffrey Oppenheim sold his house in a divorce settlement and plans to move out of town, reports lohud.com.
Deputy Mayor Lance Millman becomes acting mayor when Oppenheim, a neurosurgeon, officially resigns in early January from the post he held for nine years, according to lohud.com.
The Board of Trustees meets Jan. 20 to appoint a permanent replacement. Millman, a certified public accountant, is hoping he’s the board’s choice, says lohud.com.
The appointed mayor serves until an election is held in March 2017, lohud.com says.
