RAMAPO, N.Y. – Ramapo police and highway workers had a real Disney moment Tuesday when they were able to rescue a fawn that had fallen into a storm drain.

A landscaper working on a property on Fleetwood Avenue in Chestnut Ridge heard the tiny deer calling for its mama from the bottom of the hole and summoned police.

Police called in members of the town’s Highway Department, who released a small amount of water into the tunnel, effectively “flushing” Bambi out.

The worker then gently lifted the fawn up into the arms of a waiting police officer, who released it into a wooded area nearby.

Rescuers then watched as the critter was reunited with its mother.
