Thiells Man Charged With Stealing From Employer In Ramapo

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have arrested a 29-year-old resident of Thiells after he was accused of stealing from his employer, police said.

The arrest came about when the loss prevention department at a local store reported that an employee was stealing from the business on Monday, about 5:30 p.m., according to police.

Officers responded and investigated; after reviewing the evidence presented, the employee was taken into custody and charged with petty larceny, police said.

The suspect was processed and released on his own recognizance, with a court date scheduled in the Village of Airmont Justice Court, according to police.

The Ramapo Police Department declined Daily Voice's request to release the name of the suspect or the business he is accused of stealing from.

Ramapo police officers investigated 15 motor vehicle accidents on Monday.

Sites of the crashes included West Maple Avenue in Monsey; Maple Avenue in Monsey; Forshay Road in Viola; Unicorn Street in Chestnut Ridge; Route 202 in Pomona; Reagan Road in New Square; Dunnigan Drive in Montebello; Route 59 in Hillburn; Route 59 in Monsey; Main Street in Hillcrest; Summit Park Road in New Hempstead; Viola Road in Viola; and two accidents apiece on West Eckerson Road in Hillcrest and Route 59 in Airmont.

Ramapo police responded to 145 calls Monday, including 11 alarms, a fire and nine medical emergencies, police said.

Two arrests were made. Charges included petty larceny and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.
