Suffern To Test Sewer Pipes For Leaks

Suffern will be testing the village's sewer system for leaks. Tests consist of blowing white, odorless, smoke into the pipes. Police are advising residents to notify them if they notice any seepage of the smoke into their homes.

SUFFERN, N.Y. – The Suffern Sewer Department will be testing the village’s sewer pipes for the next week or so, police said Wednesday.

The test consists of blowing smoke through the pipes to check for leaks, they said.

The smoke is white in color and odorless.

Residents are advised to notify police if the smoke seeps into their houses.

A sewer and fire department representative will be sent around to check it out, police said.
