SUFFERN, N.Y. – Police responded to a Center Street rental property recently to find what they believe were several code and building violations, according to a statement from the Suffern Police Department.
Officers called upon code enforcers, who investigated the property Friday and issued the landlord several violations for allowing tenants to live in overcrowded conditions in a home with unsafe electrical issues, according to police.
“We take these issues very seriously and work closely with our building department to ensure the safety of the occupants, families and first responders here in the village,” said Police Chief Clarke Osborn in the statement.
Police did not provide an exact address for the building and did not release the landlord’s name.
