ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man who refused to obey police orders after attacking another man in Spring Valley was charged with assault, according to the Spring Valley Police.
Officers were dispatched to 99 South Central Ave., on Sunday, July 2, for an unknown problem. When they arrived they found a man bleeding severely from his face, said Officer Matthew Galli.
The victim was able to give a good description of his attacker and officers stopped a male identified as Francisco Augustin, 32, of Spring Valley, who denied being involved in the assault, Galli said.
An investigation led to probable cause for an arrest, and when Augustin was told to turn around to be placed in handcuffs, he refused to do so, tensed up his arms and became combative, pulling away and cocking his arm as if to punch an officer, Galli said.
Officers were able to use necessary measures to handcuff and secure Augustin, he added.
He was charged with assault and resisting arrest.
