CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- A Valley Cottage man has been charged with trying to palm off a phony $100 bill at a local gas station, Clarkstown police said.
Arber Kukaj, 20, was arrested last Friday at a Shell station in Valley Cottage after police said he bought a lottery ticket with the counterfeit cash.
Kukaj was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a felony; and petty larceny, a misdemeanor, police said.
He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and bail was set at $10,000.
Police did not say if Kukaj made bail.
