RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have charged a 38-year-old motorist with driving with a suspended license.

An officer stopped a vehicle for traveling more than 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit throughout various roads in the Monsey area on Thursday about 7:15 a.m., according to officials.

The motorist told the officer that he couldn’t find his license. The local resident was subsequently arrested and charged with operating with a suspended license, unreasonable speed and operating without producing proof of valid insurance, police report.

The defendant is scheduled to report to Ramapo Justice Court next month to answer the charges, according to officials.

Ramapo police report handling 128 calls, including 10 medical emergencies and 11 alarm activations, on Thursday.

Police report four arrests, including charges for larceny, unlawful possession of marijuana, vehicle and traffic offenses and a bench warrant.

Officers responded to 13 motor vehicle accidents in the following locations: three in Hillcrest; two each in Sloatsburg, Airmont and Monsey; and one each in Tallman, northeast Ramapo, Wesley Hills and Kaser.

Two accidents involved injuries; one accident was a hit and run, officials report.
