The Ramapo Police Department received a call from a doctor at Westchester County Medical Center shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday morning, who reported that a baby had been treated there earlier and discharged, but a CT scan came back showing it may have a brain bleed.
Police said that the doctor asked officers to locate the child, and to send them back to the hospital for additional testing as soon as possible. An address was provided in Hillcrest, but the mother and baby did not live there. They also checked a Good Samaritan hospital where the baby had been previously treated.
According to police, after all the data provided proved inaccurate, a detective was called in to work with patrol units in an effort to find both parties.
After several hours, officers were able to find a building in Spring Valley where the mother and baby reside. Both were located and were transported back to Westchester Medical Center.
Police note that there is no signs of foul play involved, though detectives will be working with Child Protective Services to assure the baby’s safety.
