RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Monsey man has been charged with assault in connection with a domestic dispute on Monday, according to Ramapo police.
Police were called to the scene about 7 p.m. by a woman who said she had been assaulted by her husband.
An officer located the suspect, who, police said, was trying to flee the area.
He was arraigned in Ramapo Justice Court, given a court date and released, police said.
Ramapo police said they also investigated a number of motor vehicle accidents Monday.
All were property damage only and took place in the following locations: Route 59, Maple Avenue and Old Nyack Turnpike in Monsey; Grandview Avenue in New Hempstead; Hempstead Road in Hillcrest; and North Airmont Road in Airmont.
Police responded Monday to a total of 135 calls, including 13 medical emergencies, 14 alarm activations and three fires.
