RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday for holding his former girlfriend captive for several hours, according to Ramapo Police.

The unidentified man from Pawtucket, R.I., was caught following a complaint from his former girlfriend on Feb. 26.  According to the girlfriend, after telling the man she did not wish to continue their relationship the boyfriend took her cell phone and forced her from her home and into his car, police said.

After driving her around for a couple hours, the girlfriend was able to run from the car to the safety of two men willing to help her. The boyfriend then fled, police said.

The man was charged with burglary, stalking, unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief, petit larceny, and harassment. He posted $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 30.
