A major roadway is closed in Ramapo due to a gas line break.

Ramapo Police said Van Orden Avenue is closed to all vehicular traffic after the line was hit around 2:30 p.m. Friday by a contractor.

Tallman Fire Department and Orange & Rockland Utilities are on scene. 

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
