Bus Monitor Strikes, Threatens Middle Schooler In Putnam, Sheriff Says

A school bus monitor was arrested and charged with striking and threatening a Putnam Valley Middle School Student on Jan. 11.

Joseph Masi, a 65-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident, was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A Misdemeanor and harassment in the second degree, a violation after he struck an 11-year-old in the face and threatened to knock him out.

After interviewing several witnesses and reviewing video and audio footage supplied by the bus company, Deputy Ryan McMahon arrested Masi.

Masi was released on his own recognizance.
