Bail Set At $2.5M For Spring Valley Man Accused Of Killing Firefighter

The man accused of killing Silver Lake firefighter and former Pine Bush High School football player Justin Speights, pleaded not guilty in court Thursday morning, according to multiple reports.

Bail has been set at $2.5 million for Jauntae Brown of Spring Valley who is accused of stabbing to death Justin Speights last year.

On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Jauntae Brown, 20, of Spring Valley, on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor weapon possession.

Speights, 20, a Town of Wallkill resident, was stabbed to death while trying to break up a fight during a large New Year's Eve party on Jan.1, 2016, in the Town of Crawford.

During Thursday's proceedings, bail was set at $2.5 million. Brown is set to return to court on Jan. 16, according to Time Warner Cable News.
