Fred 'Salvatore' Guarino, 82, Forked River Resident

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Fred "Salvatore" Guarino – a Forked River resident, formerly of Paterson and Elmwood Park – died on Thursday, March 23. He was 82.

A U.S. Army veteran, Guarino was a member of Rochelle Park American Legion Post 170. 

"He was an accomplished drummer for over 65 years, playing throughout Europe and the tristate area," in a variety of venues and for family and friends, information from the funeral home noted.

Guarino is survived by his children, Bernadette Guarino of Hackensack, Elizabeth Richardson and her husband Charles of Forked River, and Monica MacDonald and her husband Todd of Rochelle Park, and his grandchildren, Brittany and Alexander. 

He was preceded by his wife, Bernadette (Kievit) Guarino, and his brother, William Guarino. 

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, March 27, at the Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main St., in Lodi. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, for a 10:30 a.m. chapel service. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
