SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Spring Valley officials blame computer hackers for two bomb threats that created chaos Monday morning at Spring Valley High School and the municipal center, according to lohud.com.
Both buildings were evacuated Monday morning in separate incidents of emailed bomb threats. Police are investigating both as "swatting" incidents in which phony threats are made in an attempt to engage police SWAT teams and other emergency responders, reports lohud.com.
One teacher became ill during the evacuation at Spring Valley High School that sent hundreds of students outside in the snow, police said. Village employees were evacuated from the municipal complex after a threat a short time later, lohud.com says.
