RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A convicted sex offender has sued a Ramapo rabbi for defamation, according to a report by lohud.com.
Yona Weinberg, who served 13 months behind bars for molesting two boys in Brooklyn, was wanted in connection with a misdemeanor assault case when he fled to Israel, according to multiple media reports.
The lawsuit stems from tweets sent by Rabbi Yakov Horowitz, to Weinberg’s neighbors in Jerusalem warning them of his presence, lohud.com reported.
Weinberg had also unsuccessfully sought an order of protection in an Israeli court against the Monsey ultra-orthodox educator, the lohud.com story said.
Horowitz told lohud.com that he won’t be frightened away from warning people about convicted sex offenders.
