On Saturday, Dec. 19, and Sunday, Dec. 20, the group is sponsoring Kompathon, a celebration of Haitian dancing, at the Palisades Mall in West Nyack.

The event, which runs from 12 noon to 9 p.m. both days, is free, but donations to the Haitian relief cause are welcome.

The charity will also hold an annual gala Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Suffern.

The relief organization, located at 16 E. Church St. in Spring Valley, was founded in 2008, but expanded its efforts on behalf of the island after the devastating 2010 earthquake there. More than 200,000 people died in the disaster, and its effects are still felt today.
