Town Of Poughkeepsie Pedestrian Hit By Car Has Life-Threatening Injuries A 72-year-old Town of Poughkeepsie woman received serious head injuries after being hit by a car on Violet Avenue, according to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police. The incident took place around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday near 347 Violet Ave., when the woman stepped onto the roadway and was struck by a car traveling north, said Lt. Brian Wagner. The woman suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The car was driven by a 49-year-old man from Red Hook, Wagner said.
